This Buffalo winter has been bitterly cold, dangerously slippery, unrelenting, and downright depressing. With average temperatures consistently falling below the freezing mark, many of us have opted to spend most of our free time indoors with a cup of hot cocoa in one hand and the TV remote in the other. Therefore, we offer the following nontraditional Valentine’s Day gift suggestions to help you and your hubby beat the winter blues:
1). New Tires
Unless your sweetie leases a new vehicle every 39 months, there is a good chance their tire treads are less than battle ready for this year’s Buffalo winter. In fact, just last Friday there were about three dozen weather-related vehicle accidents occurring at about the same time on the thruway system around Buffalo. So, along with reminding your honey to drive slowly, allow more room for breaking at red lights, and avoid the thruway during freezing rain—nothing says, “I love you and care about your safety” more than a fresh set of all-season tires.
2). Flat Screen TV
Some of you might not see a flat screen TV as being an incredibly romantic gift, but considering the fact that the Buffalo weather forecast calls for below-zero temperatures this valentine’s Day, it might be just what the doctor ordered. Heck, most of us will be in hibernation mode anyway and what’s more romantic than cuddling up on the couch with your sweetheart and watching Sandra Bullock fall in love for the umpteenth time? Not to mention, bargain electronics outlets like Dirt Cheap TV offer massive flat screen TVs at lower prices than we saw with the last wave of console TVs.
3). Snow Shoes
You probably think we’re kidding about this one, but in the back of your mind you know you’ve always wanted to try on a pair of snow shoes and see how much of a difference they’d make when trekking through the arctic tundra that is your driveway (you know what we’re talking about Southtowners). Snow shoes are a fun and practical piece of emergency equipment ‘round these parts. They can also be a charming way of asking your beloved to accompany you on a romantic stroll through the park (or an adventurous trek to the corner store for milk, bread, and eggs when the plow trucks are delayed).

4). Alcohol
That’s right, alcohol! Nothing fends off those winter blues and warms the cockles of one’s heart quite like a touch of the old “reality softener.” Buy her a bottle of her favorite wine. Buy him a growler of his favorite craft beer. Or, splurge a little and buy your valentine a bottle of that rare vintage or high-end brand they wouldn’t normally buy for themselves.
5). Identity Package from Boye Creative Group
If your hubby is thinking about starting a new business, nothing says, “I love you and support you in your new endeavor” like an Identity Package from Boye Creative Group. We’ll start your valentine out with a new Logo, Business Card Design, Letterhead Design, Envelope or Address Label Design, and custom Facebook Profile/Cover images for their fan page.
